A GoShakes Studio Production | Original concept based on scenes from William Shakespeare's plays | Directed By Phil Weaver-Stoesz

GoShakes’ first production of 2014 explores the fiery emotions, both enjoyable and terrifying, that can come with the maze of a relationship.

In “Chemical Imbalance,” actor and director Phil Weaver-Stoesz and actors Anika Roth, Travis Cox and Lauren Treiber bring scenes from Shakespeare’s "A Midsummer Night’s Dream" into a new light. In one of Shakespeare’s classics, characters Demetrius, Lysander, Helena and Hermia are thrown together through love, hate, lust, dread and longing in an imbalanced and imperfect world. “There is no such thing as a ‘normal’ emotion,” said Weaver-Stoesz. “Every thought, every mood is a chemical imbalance, disrupting their days, destroying and creating their lives. Bill Shake's plays shake the ground that we stand on--the lovers in his plays capture, hurt, demolish and embrace one another. Their bodies slosh and their hearts cave in--they cannot sit still.”
